NU PreHealth Committee Letter

Overview

The Committee Letter is written by a member of the PreHealth Advisory Committee (usually the Director of the PreHealth Program) on behalf of the applicant. It is a letter of evaluation and advocacy for the applicant and will draw on the internal letters of recommendation in portraying both the academic and personal characteristics of the student.

Applicants must request a Committee Letter during the application cycle in which the applicant plans to apply. The Letter is requested by submitting the Request for Committee Letter only after all requirements to qualify for this request have been completed.

These requirements (listed in the Request Form) are:

To update all sections of the MedAppTrak Account;
To submit 3 NU letters of recommendation from faculty;
To submit 1-3 external (e.g., work-related) letters of recommendation and
To submit a personal statement (in draft form) for review.

Critical Timelines to Consider

All eligibility requirements for requesting a Committee Letter must be completed by April 1st of the application year (i.e., one year before matriculation).

An applicant's Committee letter will not be prepared nor submitted until the Pre-Health office receives a pdf copy of the applicant's submitted common application (e.g., AADSAS, AACOMAS, AMCAS).
