Open an AMCAS application online, making sure that you are using the application for the new application cycle. This is referred to as the "Primary Application."
Within the AMCAS application is the form to request your transcripts. Arrange for college transcripts to be send to AMCAS by printing the request form directly from AMCAS application and give or mail it to the Registrar of the university.
Write your personal statement as part of the AMCAS application.
Complete and submit your AMCAS application (the first submission date is typically in early June).
Monitor your application status on the AMCAS application site.
2. Senior Year—Summer/Fall
When an individual medical school to which you have applied wants more information about you, they will initiate what is termed the "Secondary Application". This is generally an e-mail message providing you with a link to the Secondary Application on their website with directions to complete it.
The Secondary Application requests three things: 1) school specific essay questions; 2) letters of recommendation including the university's Pre-Medical Committee Letter, and 3) an application fee.
Arrange with the Pre-Medical Advisory Office to send your letters of recommendation to your designated medical schools.
Wait to be called for an interview and start preparing.
3. Senior Year—Fall/Spring
Prepare for your interviews.
Attend your interviews.
Wait for acceptance letters; when accepted to the school(s) of choice, you are required to notify on a timely basis any medical schools where you were accepted, but which you will not attend.
4. Post Graduation—Summer/Fall
Use your summer to engage in meaningful preparation. Then, attend medical school.
